By about the 1750s European settlers were starting to push over the Appilachian mountains from North Carolina, and into was then called Indian terrority - an unmapped and poorly known area of the continent that was the home to numerous North American tribes. Imagine that in the North, the French/Canadians and British were competing for the fur trade, and settlers along the coast were pushing for land.
